Summer Reading Event: Kawambe-Omowale African Drum and Dance Theatre Presents: Juneteenth Jubilation!
Gather with us and celebrate the African descendants enslaved in Galveston, TX and their hope filled response in 1865 to new freedoms promised. Despite possible dangers ahead, people once enslaved rejoiced and we continue to honor them, celebrating with music, dance, song and story. Space is limited.
Program sponsored by Maricopa County Library District as part of Maricopa County Reads, the summer reading program at the library.
Don't forget to sign up for the Summer Reading Game, it's for all ages! Prizes include free books and other great giveaways. Registration begins May 1. Start logging your reading on June 1. Game ends August 1. To sign up, click here!
