Forensics Talk - Science & Art
Learn about all of the disciplines that make up the Phoenix Police Department Crime Laboratory & what they do to help solve crime. Also, learn about what Forensic Art is and how art is used to help in investigations.
Speaker Erin Hickson has been with the Phoenix Police Department for almost 21 years. She started her career in law enforcement as a 9-1-1 Operator and Radio Dispatcher in 2004. She then became a Laboratory Technician in the Crime Lab in 2005 where she assisted Forensic Scientists. She promoted to Forensic Scientist in 2006. She started in the Toxicology section and transferred to the Firearms section in 2009. She has been a Forensic Scientist in the Firearms section ever since. She became a Forensic Artist in 2013 and has been helping multiple jurisdictions around the state and country in assisting their investigations with art. She has also been teaching college students about Comparative Forensics since 2019. Her passion is in helping others and all of these paths in her career have accomplished this in different ways.
