These workshops are intended for ages 9-14.

Provided in partnership with Coding in Color with generous support from The Library Foundation. 

February 7, 2025- Session 1

Introduction to Circuits, Electricity, Sensors & Arduinos

Learn about the basics of electrical circuits, the principles of electricity, and how sensors work. Students will get to program Arduino microcontrollers to build simple, interactive projects, sparking their creativity and problem-solving skills.

February 14, 2025- Session 2

Introduction to Robotics

Learn about the world of robotics, covering the fundamentals of robot design and programming. Students will explore how robots sense, think, and act by building and controlling their own robots through hands-on activities.

February 21, 2025- Session 3

Introduction to Python

Learn an intro to Python, one of the most versatile and popular programming languages. Students will learn the basics of coding through interactive exercises, gaining skills to create simple programs and solve real-world problems.

February 28, 2025- Session 4

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

Learn about AI and how it is used in the real world. Get the chance to create an AI model that can detect poses!

March 7, 2025- Session 5

Introduction to Game Development

Learn about the fundamentals of creating your own games, from designing characters and levels to writing simple game logic. Students will use beginner-friendly tools and programming concepts, participants will bring their creative ideas to life and gain insight into the game development process.

March 14, 2025- Session 6

Careers in Computing & Post-Secondary Educational Options

Learn about the wide range of careers available in the field of computing, from software development to cybersecurity. Students will also learn about post-secondary programs, pathways, and resources to help them prepare for a future in technology.

March 21, 2025- Session 7

Intro to Web Development (HTML)

Learn about the fundamentals of web development using HTML, the building block of all websites. Students will learn how to structure web pages, create hyperlinks, and add images, gaining the skills to design their first basic website.

March 28, 2025- Session 8

Web Development Continued (CSS)

Learn about the continued fundamentals of web development using CSS, a powerful tool for styling web pages. Students will explore how to customize layouts, colors, and fonts, creating visually appealing and professional-looking websites.

April 4, 2025- Session 9

Web Development Continued (JavaScript)

Learn about the continued fundamentals of web development using JavaScript, the programming language that brings websites to life. Students will learn how to add interactivity, such as dynamic content and user-driven features, making their web pages more engaging and functional.

April 11, 2025- Session 10

Integrating ChatGPT Into Your Website

Learn how to enhance your website with AI-powered features in this hands-on workshop. Discover how to integrate ChatGPT seamlessly into your site to create interactive, dynamic user experiences.
