Phoenix Art Museum Presents: Books on Color
Join Phoenix Art Museum librarian Jesse Alexander Lopez for a fun talk covering influential books on color. This presentation celebrates our Summer Reading Program theme, "Color Our World," and will inspire artists, bibliophiles, history enthusiasts, and anyone obsessed with color to explore beyond ROYGBIV (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet).
Attendees will discuss a wide spectrum of art books, including a rare first edition of Interaction of Color by Josef Albers, Japanese Art Deco masterpiece A Dictionary of Color Combinations Vol 1 & 2 by Sanzo Wada, and the recent works of French academic Michel Pastoreau, about the history of color. Additionally, we will examine contemporary and practical resources on color, such as color-based websites and social media accounts.
This program is for age 18 and up.
Registration is encouraged but not required. If you register, you will receive a reminder email.
This program will occur in Pulliam Auditorium, on the 1st floor of Burton Barr Central Library.
