How to Raise a Reader: Simple Science, Powerful Strategies (for K-3rd grade caregivers)

A 45‑minute workshop for K–3rd grade caregivers

Reading doesn't have to be a mystery.  In this fast‑paced, practical workshop, caregivers will learn the essentials of the Science of Reading—what it is, why it matters, and how children actually learn to read. We’ll break down the research into clear, friendly language and focus on the skills that matter most for K–3rd grade learners, including phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary,  and comprehension.

Participants will walk away with simple, science‑based strategies they can use at home right away to build strong reading habits, boost confidence, and make literacy a joyful part of everyday life.

Perfect for parents, grandparents, and anyone supporting an beginning reader, this workshop empowers families with the knowledge and tools to help children grow into skilled, motivated, lifelong readers.
