Trailblazing Black Ballerinas - Black History Month

Trailblazing Black Ballerinas - Black History Month

Learn about the dancers who paved the way for the astonishing legacy we know today. Lydia Abarca, Gayle McKinney-Griffith, Sheila Rohan, Marcia Sells, and Karlya Shelton were five of the earliest ballerinas at Dance Theatre of Harlem. Frequently forgotten in dance history, discover the lives of five women who blazed new trails in the world of ballet. This program is presented by Ballet Arizona.
