Be My Neighbor Day
Step into the world of Be My Neighbor Day, a free, joy‑filled celebration designed especially for children ages 2–8. This family event invites little neighbors (and their grown‑ups) to explore what it means to be kind, helpful, and connected to the community around them.
Inspired by Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, we’ll spend the day discovering simple, meaningful ways to be caring neighbors through hands‑on crafts, imaginative activities, and heartwarming storytelling. It’s a gentle, playful introduction to empathy — and a wonderful way to spark a lifelong love of helping others.
And the guest list? Absolutely grr‑ific. We’re honoring the legacy of Fred Rogers with some truly special visitors, including Mychal Threets, beloved host of Reading Rainbow Live, and Stacey Gordon, the talented puppeteer behind Sesame Street’s Julia. Daniel Tiger himself will also be there and there will be opportunity for photos!
Be My Neighbor Day is the perfect way to nurture kindness, celebrate community, and kick off a lifetime of volunteerism.
This event is made possible through the generosity of partners who believe in building strong, caring communities: PNC Bank, the Phoenix Public Library Foundation, Fred Rogers Productions, and Maricopa County Community Colleges.
Fred Rogers was an American television host, author, and producer of Mister Rogers Neighborhood on PBS, from 1968 to 2001. Each episode was a visit with young viewers exploring early childhood themes through his interaction with friends and neighbors and through puppet stories set in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Mister Rogers Neighborhood was the inspiration for the beloved PBS show and book series, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood.
