Conveyance Into Light Exhibition
Conveyance Into Light by Katharine Leigh Simpson is a short, visual exploration of the grieving process and the cyclical nature of renewing life energy. This concept is presented through the visual interpretation of a whale, symbolic of an angel descending from the heavens to gather the souls of the deceased and return them to the stars. Various fine art works that are inspiration to the visual aesthetic of the story will be on display in Central Gallery, including the Whale and Birds (puppets) themselves.
See this story come to life with live musical accompaniment by Mario Yniguez and Tony Obr on Sunday, March 10th, in Pulliam Auditorium at Burton Barr Central Library. This video presentation and live performance will be approximately 20 minutes in length and begin at 2pm and 3pm. Click here for more information.
About the Artist:
Katharine Leigh Simpson is a fine arts and installation artist. She creates both two-dimensional and textural works as well as performance pieces to express energy, wave forms, and life’s impermanence. Combining organic materials found in nature together with paper and other traditional fine art mediums, Katharine captures this energy and translate it into sculptural expressions. The dualistic qualities of strength and fragility in the materials themselves echo impermanence, while at the same time, allude to their transformative properties.
